A good night’s sleep can feel like a dream in itself for those of us with chronic illnesses but our two-part blog series on sleep is here to help. Part one includes pillow recommendations, sleep apps, sleep council resources and more. Read part one here.

Sleep workshop

In April we were joined by Joy Bishop from Sleep East who led us in a 2-hour deep dive into the world of sleep including:

  • the sleep cycle,
  • the hormones involved in sleep,
  • how to improve sleep before you go to bed,
  • use of dark/light as tools,
  • sleep, pain and painsomnia,
  • insomnia, sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome,
  • when to see a doctor,
  • a relaxation exercise to help aid sleep.

The workshop is available to watch again on our Patreon platform, click on the button below to be taken there.

Sleep diary

Keeping a two-week sleep diary is one for the first things a doctor will ask you to do, so get ahead of the game by going to your appointment with one already filled out! We’ve made one based on the ones provided by hospitals in the UK, so it’s thorough and asks for all the information we’ve been asked for when we’ve had to fill them out. Joy very kindly shared resources that may be of interest and use. Click the buttons below to download.
